Summary

Give Your Browser a New Name changes selected brand words and logos in ordinary web pages and provides a customizable new tab page. The extension performs this work locally in your browser. It has no developer-operated server, account system, advertising, or analytics.

Information processed locally

• Custom display names. The names you choose for Google, YouTube, and Chrome are stored in Chrome local extension storage so the extension can remember your preferences.
• Visible website content. Text and selected accessibility attributes in ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages are examined locally only to find and replace the supported brand words. Page content is not retained or transmitted.
• New tab input. Search text is passed to Chrome's Search API and handled by the search provider selected in your browser. Complete web addresses are opened directly. The extension does not store either input.

Information not collected

The developer does not collect, receive, sell, share, or use your browsing history, page content, search queries, identifiers, account information, personal communications, or custom display names. No information is transmitted to the developer or to a developer-controlled third party.

Storage

Stores your three custom display names on this device.

Search

Sends new tab searches through Chrome's configured default search provider, as required by Chrome Web Store policy.

Website access

Allows the extension to replace supported visible brand words on ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages. Protected Chrome pages and the Chrome Web Store cannot be modified.

Retention and deletion

Custom display names remain in local extension storage until you replace them, restore the defaults, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension. The developer has no copy of this information.

Third-party services

Searches submitted from the custom new tab page are processed by the default search provider you selected in Chrome and are subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy. Links you choose to open are handled by the destination website. The extension does not add tracking parameters.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
